newyears

Hey guys, things are still ‘charging up’ as far as tg development goes but I just wanted to say happy new year! I hope everyone is enjoying their time off from the usual routine. Alas I return to work this week but I’m hoping to keep things going along with my usual routine. Consider it a new year’s resolution I suppose. =]

Anyway to ring in the new day, Airlight has managed to finish another two of the guild base environments. Check it out;

Awesome work as always, Air! I look forward to seeing the rest of them soon. Likewise more updates to come from all of us in the near future as well. Here’s to a new and brighter 2012!

Call to gather!

New Staff needed!Yep, it's that time again.

Obligation, priorities, and the general erosive nature of time have once again scattered many of us to the wind, so I'm putting out a message to gather once more. For those staff still interested in helping out with the community, please chime in and let me know so that we can start getting more things rolling. For those that are not staff but are interested in helping out, please read on.

Qualifications

In the past we went by choosing staff through person potential more than skill, since we could later on assign people different tasks. That was great in the beginning because we weren't sure what we needed exactly. Now that we are more solidified and knowledgeable in what we need, it would be a better option to get people based on skill. However that is not to say that you have to be uber good to start. Willingness to improve/learn/work with others and the availability of free time are probably the most important parts we're looking for as far as new staff goes. =]

Below are the positions we need along with a brief description of them. I can assure you that each of these positions are a great opportunity to help develop your skill and find good results since this in itself is a collaborative effort. If you guys are interested in any of these, please feel free to contact us...

Hi Everyone, Chemb0t here again. Just popping in to break the placidity. =]

A lot has happened “offline” this summer. Many of our members have been delving into healthy personal pursuits, strengthening their skills and accomplishing many great things in the real world. It may seem that the community site is currently a ghost town as a result, but I personally don’t find that surprising or concerning. We are after all a community that encourages personal pursuits, whether it be online or in real life.

Now that things are starting to slow down (and cool down for many of us), I’m hoping to get things rolling again, but with a slightly different approach. Survival requires adaptation. A good number of things have changed since we launched this site. One cannot argue that the Internet is quite a different place compared to half a decade ago. Social networking is a norm, blogging is rampant, videos and instant feeds are common place. The old paradigm of exclusive forum communities and written content is evolving into a lighter, more agile set of activities where a community doesn’t really stay in one place, but extends over many different sites and forms of media.

So to that effect, here’s a few things we will start doing to keep up and keep going...

Get Your Draw On!

ocico.jpg After some talk, and a fascinating find by one of our staff, we would like to try starting weekly community Open Canvas sessions. We've come across a nifty bit of code that allows us to extend the server capabilities of the program. We can now host over 4 people at a time, drawing data is saved and restoreable, window focus problems are gone, and we can have up to 24 layers to draw on!

Our members have found it as nice way to bounce ideas off each other and work collaboratively, and we are now inviting non-members to join in the fun! It's a chance to get to know about the community a little better and have some of your questions answered! If you're not familiar with the program or are just too shy to draw, no problem. You can still join in to chat and spectate. I'm sure we'd be happy to teach you as well. =]

More details after the jump~

Unexpected downtime last weekend

chrometestHi all,

Just wanted to inform everyone that there was some unexpected downtime that started Saturday at 10am PST and extended to about Sunday 4am last weekend. This was caused by a new server incompatibility that was making some of the software on our network run extremely high CPU rates.

The main culprit was the index page on CM's site, but since we are running the same software on TG, it is likely that it was affected by the change as well.

I have installed a few patches to fix the problem but we are still under observation in case the problem persists. If you run into any issues while browsing around the network this week, please let us know!

Thanks for your attention! *bows*

Update: Looks like this issue is affecting other shared servers on our host account as well. Their staff are currently looking into the problem. In the meantime, things might be a bit rocky. Expect slow load times and possible random internal server errors.

Hopefully it will pass soon. I'll keep you posted through this thread. Thanks again for your patience! *bows*
