Like all traditional organizations, each member of the guild holds a certain rank, position and role. These assignments can vary greatly but all are interdependent of each other. |

|
Initiates
Initiates are those chosen to join the guild and have agreed to undergo initiation. This process involve a series of mental and physical tests which help to confirm their suitability for membership. Community Role: New members who have not yet met the minimum number of posts for regular membership are considered as initiates.
Affiliates
Affiliates are those who fail the initiation tests or are people who have simply decided not to join the guild but are still placed under its protection. Affiliates have limited access to the guild's resources and are occasionally approached for information or aid in particular guild operations.
Community Role: These are guests visiting the site.
Technoagents
Technoagents are what the Technoguild is mostly composed of. Technoagents are only required to wear the insignia to identify themselves as a member. Uniform is optional because it is their duty to blend into the populace and work from within. Technoagents also act as the eyes and ears of the guild. They are responsible for developing and delivering new technology as well as aiding those in need of support and guidance. If a major conflict, such as a world war or invasion occurs, they will be requested to reveal themselves and fight to balance out the forces.
Community Role: These are regular members of the TG community
Templar
Templar are considered as senior members of the Technoguild. As the name implies, these members protect the interests of the guild and are extremely strong in their skills. They are responsible for running various systems and operations within the guild and are appointed by Arbiters to assist them in various tasks. One such task will be to fill in the role of the Arbiter should they be away. Technoagents can become templars if they demonstrate high skill in their field and are capable of using it to contribute to the guild as a whole.
Community Role: Templars serve as general staff for the guild community. Mods, artists, RP facilitators, organizers and other roles responsible for running the community site are given this rank. Members can become templars if they demonstrate exceptional skill or interest in something they do such as drawing, CG or writing or show high activity in the guild. Templars are expected to contribute such skill by offering advice to others and submitting new work or concepts to the community.
Arbiter
Arbiters are the 7 members of the high council which governs the majority of the guild's operations. They are elected into this position by the guild's members and must exhibit high virtue and compassion along with great skill in their field. Although high reputation, contribution and seniority are considered, an Arbiter does not necessarily need these to become appointed. Each Arbiter is given a base of operations and a specialty branch to focus their skills, research and expertise. Members who affiliate with an Arbiter's branch are placed under their leadership.
Community Role: As an arbiter, you will be asked to do special tasks such as approving new memberships, moderating forums, and contributing to the storyline and concepts of the community.
Oracle
The designated leader of a given Technoguild establishment. One of the seven Arbiters is elected into this position. Although it is typically assumed that the Oracle or '0th' Arbiter resides in Avalon (sky base), the exact identity and base of operations can be kept secret to all except the Templar that are charged with protecting him or her.
Community Role: This designation is given to the founders of the guild and have the same roles and privileges as Arbiters. |

Much in the vein of the scientific community it originates from, the guild utilizes Latin nomenclature to designate seniority. The following designations are given based on how much a member has contributed to the guild, whether it be by accomplishing missions, submitting research or simply being with the guild for a long, long time:
Coepi = began, started, undertook, initiated Socius = partner, comrade, associate, ally, fellow Opifex = artesian, builder Artifex = artist, author, craftsman Peritus = skilled, expert Gnarus = knowing, acquainted with, expert Erus = master, owner, lord Magister = master, canon / master of a school, professor
Each of these designations can be modified with an intermediary term:
Magnas = great, important
Usage
These designations are used in salutations and as official titles for introduction and follow a specific pattern:
Position-Seniority
For example, Arbiter-Peritus, or Templar-Magnas Erus or Agent-Artifex
Community Usage
These designations are used as ranks in the forum for post counts. |
